Grey Hydrogen
Currently hydrogen production is predominantly produced from fossil fuels which is know as “grey hydrogen”. Grey hydrogen is currently the most affordable production process due to the infrastructure available. Produced using steam methane reforming (SMR) of natural gas or coal.
Green Hydrogen
Produced via electrolysis process where water is split into hydrogen and oxygen using renewable electricity and a electrolyser. Green hydrogen is currently the emerging industry with significant potential to assist global decarbonisation efforts.
Blue Hydrogen
Produced using SMR and carbon capture use and storage (CCUS). Blue hydrogen production is the conversion of hydrocarbon feedstock into a hydrogen product with C02 capture for storage and usage.
