Whatever the application, the performance, reliability and durability of your hoses is paramount. Fluid transfer hoses are essential for maintaining the efficiency of your operations.
The expert Pacific Hoseflex team understands the importance of hoses in various applications and offers a range of braided hoses designed to provide maximum durability and flexibility.
Let’s explore the benefits of braided hoses and why they are a popular choice for so many industries in Australia and worldwide.
What are braided hoses?
Braided hoses are one of the most common types on the market. Their construction consists of a flexible convoluted inner core, normally made from stainless steel, then a layer of braided stainless steel on the outside.
Braided hoses are available in various lengths, widths and braid sizes, allowing you to choose a customised hose for the application. This braided layer of stainless steel provides extra strength and protection, which enables the hose to withstand high temperatures and extreme pressure.
Our Vitalflex® stainless steel braided hose is a popular choice and the most recognised and high performance hose in the industry.
When is a braided hose needed?
When an application requires higher internal pressure capability, using a stainless steel wire braid (SS1) on the hose assembly is recommended. The wire braid acts as a restraint against hose elongation and dampens vibration without significantly affecting flexibility.
A second layer of braid (SS2) can be added for even greater pressure capacity. Please remember exceeding the recommended test pressure may result in permanent corrugation deformation and should be avoided. A third layer of braid (SS3) is used to increase the pressure rating from SS2.
Benefits of braided hoses
Some of the benefits of braided hoses include:
FLEXIBILITY
One of the main benefits of braided hoses is that they are extremely flexible. This allows them to move without damaging the hose or any attached equipment and makes them suitable for applications with tight spaces or complex routing.
Our Vitalflex® stainless steel braided hose assemblies are the most superior range of flexible metal hoses on the global market and are suitable for use in a wide range of industries. The flexibility of the VITALFLEX® hose is due to the bending of the metal corrugations.
RESILIENCE AND DURABILITY
Fluid transfer hoses are subjected to harsh environments and must withstand high temperatures and pressure. The stainless steel braiding improves the hoses’ strength and protects against outside abrasion and damage, adding durability to the hose.
This resilience makes braided hoses ideal for high-pressure applications and for use in the oil and gas and pharmaceutical and plumbing industries as well as sprinkler systems.
VERSATILITY
We give engineers access to our design data, so our Vitalflex® stainless steel braided hose assemblies can be easily connected to new or existing systems. This allows for greater system design and maintenance flexibility, as engineers can easily incorporate our hoses into their projects without worrying about compatibility issues.
CORROSION-RESISTANT
Stainless steel braided hoses are corrosion-resistant. The outside layer provides extra protection against corrosion and rust making them ideal for use in harsh environments.
