A lot is happening in the Beetaloo Basin.
Located in the Northern Territory, the region is moving into a significant stage of development, with activity progressing from pilot production towards larger-scale gas infrastructure.
That means more than drilling additional wells. As development grows, so does everything needed to support, such as compression facilities, gathering networks, pipelines, gas processing infrastructure and the services required to keep operations running.

A much bigger network is taking shape
As projects move from pilot production into larger-scale development, there’s more infrastructure going in, more equipment arriving on site and a much bigger network that needs to work together.
At the upstream end, drilling and completion operations need equipment for applications including well servicing, cementing, water transfer and fuel handling.
Then, gathering systems connect wellheads with flowlines, manifolds, separation equipment and processing infrastructure. Compression facilities help move gas through the network, while pipelines and processing facilities form another part of the expanding infrastructure.
Each stage introduces different operating conditions and different fluid transfer requirements.
For the operators, EPC contractors and service providers working across Beetaloo, that means there isn’t one standard solution that can just be applied everywhere.
The conditions matter
A hose assembly that works well in one part of the project may not be right for another.
High pressures and temperatures need to be considered. So does the vibration and movement generated by drilling and compression equipment. Different parts of the operation may be transferring gas, water, chemicals, fuels or other process fluids.
Then there’s the environment to consider. Beetaloo is remote, so operating sites can be a long way from major supply centres, while construction, commissioning and maintenance still need to happen to schedule.
If something doesn’t fit when it arrives on site, or an assembly isn’t suited to the conditions it is operating in, replacing it is never a quick exercise. It makes getting the specification right from the start especially important.
Flexible connections become a necessity
Compression facilities need flexible connections. Compressors naturally generate vibration, pulsation, heat and movement. Flexible connectors and expansion joints are essential around suction and discharge lines, cooling systems, lubrication systems and supporting process services, as they help accommodate movement and protect adjoining pipework and equipment.
Gathering networks is another challenge. Connections between wellheads, flowlines, manifolds and processing equipment may need to account for thermal expansion, movement, vibration and equipment misalignment.
During pipeline construction, fluid transfer equipment may also be needed for hydrostatic testing, commissioning and connections between fixed equipment. When the application changes, so does the solution.
Supporting the project beyond construction
The Beetaloo Basin isn’t just a construction project. As more infrastructure becomes operational, maintenance and shutdown requirements will increase.
Hose assemblies, expansion joints, couplings and fittings will need to be inspected, maintained and replaced over time. For sites operating in remote areas, knowing what equipment is installed and what may need replacing can make maintenance planning much easier.
